Fresh off the plane from the Craft and Hobby Association show (better known as CHA), my awesome and totally up-to-the-minute editor has filled me in on the coolest happenings in the world of crafting. We really try to keep up on all of the evolutions that are going on in the crafting community, and one of those things just totally speaks to the technology-driven world we live in, and how technology and crafting have started to go hand-in-hand. This was the first thing Beverly shared with me when telling me about CHA, and we are both excited about it. Read on, my friends…
We’ve all heard of the Apple iPhone, and the trillions of apps that you can download for it. Need a restaurant recommendation? There’s an app for that. Desperate for some pickup lines? Yeeeah, there’s an app for that. Need to check your liver function? (Okay, there’s not an app for that…yet). How about scrapbooking? Well, guess what? Thanks to DCWV (Die Cuts With A View), there’s now an app for that.
The eScrapp App will allow users to not only make scrapbook layouts online, but also enable them to share their creations through social networking sites like Facebook or Twitter. The application has over 50 backgrounds (you may also design layouts from scratch), as well as elements, fonts, photo filters, and resizing/rotating options. Did your son or daughter just make the impossible shot and win the game? You can take a photo, customize it, and upload it in a matter of minutes. Capturing and sharing memories just got even easier…and speedier!
Of course, not all of us have an iPhone. But fear not; there are still plenty of delicious electronic scrapbooking goodies to go around. DCWV has also launched a new website: 300dpi allows consumers to create digital scrapbook pages and then upload the completed projects as jpegs. Those jpegs can then be uploaded to any site. Be the envy of the Facebook neighborhood with totally unique photos.
300dpi includes background designs, decorative elements, alphabet sets, stock photos, gift ideas, and backgrounds for blogs and Twitter. Coming soon: Software that will allow you to create a digital scrapbook that can be printed and bound as a photo book, then shipped right to your door. How fun is that? I definitely recommend exploring this site–there is so much to discover.
We featured some of DCWV’s product in our February 2010 issue. They design, manufacture, and sell scrapbooking, home decor, and stationery products. For more info, click here or here. Sign up for their newsletter to receive news and updates.
If you have an iPhone and can check out the eScrap App, let us know what it’s like (it will be available through the iTunes store soon–they’ll announce it in their newsletter). Happy scrapping!
