“The doors we open and close each day decide the lives we live.” – Flora Whittemore

We often ask our Create & Decorate readers to email us photographs that they have taken from their hometowns and vacation spots. This has become a way of sharing the beauty around us with each other. When space allows we share these photos in Create & Decorate magazine in a feature column called Country Still life.

Below, I am sharing a piece of my hometown–our church. This past Saturday was our town’s yard sale day. I was manning a table in the church parking lot, and when the lot was finally quiet, I had the opportunity to truly appreciate the beauty of our church. Although I see the facade of our church frequently, at that moment I felt as though I was viewing it for the first time. What simple beauty on a summer’s day. The moral of the story? Notice and enjoy life’s little moments, friends, they are good for your soul.

If you have a Country Still Life photograph that you would like us to consider to share with our readers, email the jpg file to us at editors@createanddecorate.com.

  1. What a pretty setting, summertime, bright white walls, faith within. We live in a small town with lakes and rivers, no end of wildlife and beautiful scenery. Karen

  2. What a beautiful church and what a poignant sentiment you just shared with us! Thank you, I think I needed this today.
