“what is it?” 143 – the answer

This week our mystery item was a great pair of vintage shoe trees, or shoe stretchers. As many of you know, the lightweight metal stretchers were made to be adjustable and fit several up to 10 different shoe sizes! Such a great way to protect your shoes… why don’t we use them very much anymore? We guess that is because back then shoes were made to last a very long time, and you’d replace the soles and heels, and polish them regularly.

Thrifty, wise folks!
